Shares of battery maker Eveready Industries India Ltd jump as much as 17.7 per cent to Rs 213.8, highest since October 12. Promoter B M Khaitan-led Williamson Magor and Co Ltd is planning to sell Eveready Industries, media reported citing sources.
Williamson Magor directly held 23.67 per cent in Eveready and unit Williamson Financial Services Ltd had 8.79 per cent stake as of Sept 30, 2018, according to the BSE data.
Shares of Williamson Magor hit the upper circuit, rising as much as 20 per cent to Rs 64.2 in their biggest intraday per cent gain since August 29, 2018.
Eveready's shares post their biggest intraday gain since February 12, 2016, more than 3.1 million Eveready shares change hands vs 30-day avg of over 86,800.
Eveready and Williamson Magor did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
