There was no sentimental play at the stock markets on this Women’s Day as most of the companies, which have “fashion’’ or “cosmetics’’ in their name, displayed a mixed show at the bourses on Friday.
However, most of the companies, which have “fashion’’ in their name, cater to textile and apparel segments — that is common for both the sexes.
MFL India, earlier known as My Fair Lady, plunged 9.54 per cent at Rs 7.20 on the BSE.
My Fair Lady, which was earlier into selling of branded cosmetics, particularly for women, now changed its business profile to concentrate on logistics.
But the stocks that mainly cater to jewellery-related such as gems and stones displayed relatively a firm trend.
Of the 40 BSE other apparels and accessories stocks, 29 gained while 18 slipped even as two remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex jumped 0.57 per cent at 19,524.89.
