Financial sector shares Axis Bank, IDFC and YES Bank were among the predominant gainers on the NSE on Wednesday. The markets recovered their composure today after falling sharply yesterday. A further drop in April inflation numbers to 4.87 per cent has revived hopes for another rate cut by the RBI.
At 10.40 am the top gainer on the bourse was GAIL (India), which was broadly firm. It traded at Rs 378.45, up 3.05 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 367.25.
M&M was also trading on a firm wicket, with gains of 3.04 per cent at Rs 1,212.90. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 1,177.10.
Axis Bank spurted 3.03 per cent to trade at Rs 548.50 as against Rs 532.35 at close on Tuesday.
IDFC moved up 2.83 per cent at Rs 158.10. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 153.75.
YES Bank gained 2.78 per cent to quote at Rs 845.50 as against Rs 822.65 at close previously.
