The 2014-15 financial year has turned out to be the best year for steel maker Tata Steel Ltd with the company achieving its best ever performance in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production and in total sales (in terms of volume).
In its filings with the stock exchanges, the company said that the total agglomerate (aggregate) production of 12.78 million tonnes achieved during the last financial year was its best ever, beating the previous best of 12.14 million tonnes in the previous fiscal. The coke production (Jameshedpur and Haldia) touched 4.67 million tonnes which was also a new high erasing the earlier high of 4.27 million tonnes in the 2013-14 financial year.
The company said that 2014-15 FY was also the best in hot metal production at 10.16 million tonnes that was higher than the earlier best of 9.90 million tonnes in 2013-14 FY. The crude steel production last fiscal at 9.33 million tonnes overtook the earlier record of 9.16 million tonnes in the previous fiscal. The saleable steel production of 9.07 million tonnes achieved during 2014-15 fiscal year was also the best ever nudging out the previous best of 8.93 million tonnes recorded in FY 2014.
For sales in volume terms too the 2014-15 fiscal year was the best ever for TSL. The company’s steel sales volume of 8.75 million tonnes during last year was also the best ever, overtaking the 8.52 million tonnes sales record of 2013-14. It also achieved best ever performance during last fiscal in automotive sales at 1.36 million tonnes beating the earlier high of 1.18 million tonnes achieved in 2013-14. Tata Tiscon sales of 1.24 million tonnes during last year was a new record overtaking 1.09 million tonnes sold in the previous year. Last year’s Tata Shaktee sales of 0.23 million tonnes also erased the earlier record of 0.21 million tonnes achieved in FY 2012, the company said.
Shares of TSL were trading at ₹336.05, a loss of ₹ 1.65, on the BSE in a weak market with the BSE sensex down by about 190 points.
