HCL Technologies shares surged about 6 six per cent in the morning trade, after the IT services firm reported a 28.7 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 602.5 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, 2012.
Revenues were up 26 per cent at Rs 5,215.6 crore (Rs 4,138.2 crore).
On the BSE, the scrip opened at Rs 500.50 and touched an early high of Rs 508.90, a jump of 5.83 per cent over its previous close of Rs 480.85. The stock was later trading at Rs 502.90, up 4.59 per cent.
A similar movement was witnessed on the National Stock Exchange as well where the stock, after opening on a strong note at Rs 502, jumped 5.7 per cent to touch a high of Rs 508.30. It was later trading at Rs 503.20, up 4.65 per cent.
Marketmen said the bullish numbers helped the stock gain momentum. Besides, the broader market was also trading on the positive territory.
