HDFC witnessed a huge trading volume in both the exchanges, with trading on the NSE crossing 15 crore shares level within the first hour of trading.
It is not clear whether the NSE volume includes any share that Citigroup may have offloaded since such a substantial volume so early in the day is unusual for a high value share like HDFC.
But the share price has declined on the BSE and NSE. While on the NSE, the scrip shed Rs 28.90 or 4.12 per cent to trade at Rs 672.40, on the BSE the share was trading at Rs 672, a loss of Rs 28.35.
While on the NSE, the volume was 15.21 crore shares, on the BSE it was more modest at 22.38 lakh shares.
