Shares of Hindalco Industries and Vedanta today fell as much as 4 per cent after the BSE’s announcement that both companies will shift out of the benchmark Sensex from December 21.
Hindalco’s scrip dipped 4 per cent to Rs 74.20 on BSE and Vedanta fell 3 per cent to Rs 90.35.
Both the scrips were the worst performers on the 30-share benchmark index.
These stocks would be replaced by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and Asian Paints Ltd.
Adani Ports’ scrip gained 3.42 per cent to Rs 279. Similarly, shares of Asian Paints rose 2.67 per cent to Rs 849.
The move is a part of Asia Index Pvt Ltd’s semi-annual reconstitution results.
The Sensex was trading down by 98.03 points or 0.38 per cent at 25,770.46.
