Hindustan Unilever extended last week’s firm trend on the markets into trading on Monday morning. At 10.34 am the share was the top gainer on the BSE, quoting at Rs 895.80 as against Rs 863.50 at close on Friday. This represented a gain of 3.74 per cent.
BHEL steamed up 1.14 per cent to trade at Rs 257.50. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 254.60.
The markets began the week flat on weak Asian cues. The BSE Sensex was trading above the 27,460 level, while the NSE NIfty was within sight of the 8,300-mark.
State Bank of India and Axis Bank were the two financial sector shares among the top gainers on the bourse today. SBI was up 1.02 per cent at Rs 306.40 as against Rs 303.30 at close on Friday. Axis Bank was quoting at Rs 500.20. This represented a gain of 0.97 per cent on its previous close at Rs 495.40.
Larsen & Toubro built up gains of 0.79 per cent to trade at Rs 1,512.25. The share had closed last week at Rs 1,500.40.
