Idea, Airtel shares gain, Reliance falls as regulator asks Jio to scrap offer

Shares of Idea, Airtel gained while that of Reliance Industries fell on Friday as the telecom regulator asked Reliance Jio to withdraw the summer offer.

Bharti Airtel gained as much as 2.3 per cent in early trade. At about 11.15 am, the stock was up 2.15 per cent or Rs 7.35 at Rs 349.

Similarly, Idea Cellular shares gained as much as 2.9 per cent in initial trade. At about 11.15 am, the stock was quoting 2.37 per cent or Rs 2.05 higher at Rs 88.55.

Reliance Industries fell as much as 1.8 per cent in early trade. At about 11.20 am, the stock was trading down 1.36 per cent or Rs 19.55 at Rs 1418.80.

Reliance Jio Infocomm said the telecom regulator asked it to withdraw a 3-month offer to subscribers. Jio said last month customers under Jio Prime plan who pay a monthly fee by April 15 would receive three months of free services. Jio said it will withdraw the offer “as soon as operationally feasible".
