Despite disappointing secondary market performance in 2015, primary market activity was buoyant after a lull of five years.
Compared to six IPOs in 2014, the main market saw robust activity with 21 IPOs in 2015.
Of the 20 companies which listed recently, 12 companies have given positive returns while shares of nine companies are trading in the negative compared to their respective issue prices.
Shares of Narayana Hrudayalaya, which issue was subscribed by over 8.5 times recently, remain to be listed.
One of the best performers is VRL Logistics, which returned 97.59 per cent. The stock on Monday closed at ₹405.05 on the NSE against the issue price of ₹205. The stock was listed on April 30, 2015. The others that gave returns in excess of 50 per cent include Shree Pushkar Chemicals and Fertilisers, Syngene International, InterGlobe Aviation and Manpasand Beverages.
Among the top losers include MEP Infrastructure Developers, Adlabs Entertainment, UFO Moviez, Coffee Day Enterprises, Pennar Engineered Building Systems and Sadbhav Infrastructure Project.
Stocks of healthcare firms Alkem Laboratories and Dr Lal PathLabs, which listed with gains of over 30 per cent to their respective issue prices of ₹1,050 and ₹550 a share, slipped sharply on Monday, on profit-taking.
