The equity markets ended with profit on Friday after trading in a narrow range throughout the session. The broader markets were flat throughout the session.
Both Sensex and the Nifty index ended with gains of 0.5 per cent each at 36,021 and 10,607 respectively.
Even the sectoral indices too remained mostly flat. The Nifty Realty index ended 1 per cent higher along with similar gains by Nifty IT and Auto indices. The PSU Bank index dropped 1.1 per cent lower at the close.
The Midcap index ended 0.6 per cent higher while the smallcap index ended with gains of 0.2 per cent.
Market breadth was negative with 958 stocks posting losses while 851 stocks closed in green.
The Sensex posted gains of 2.4 per cent while the Nifty ended 2.2 per cent higher on a weekly basis.
