The fall in the value of the Indian currency against the US dollar following restrictions imposed by the RBI to shore up the rupee, had an immediate echo in the markets with all the four IT majors trading in the red on the NSE even as the rest of the Nifty stocks, except Coal India, were trading in positive territory.
Infosys was down by Rs 12.35 at Rs 2,704, HCL Technologies shed Rs 2.55 to trade at Rs 410.95, TCS lost Rs 18 to trade at Rs 1,164.50 and Wipro was down by Rs 6.75 at Rs 399.85.
The only other Nifty stock to lose value was Coal India which was trading at Rs 311.15, a loss of 50 paise. All the other 45 Nifty counters had made gains.
