JB Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals on Friday informed the exchanges that one reactor has exploded/caught fire in the morning at the company’s API manufacturing unit at Panoli, Gujarat, during the course of manufacturing. This has damaged the surrounding civil structure and equipment. “The extent of damage/loss is not known at present.

The buildings and plant and machinery at the said unit are fully covered by insurance,” the company said, and added that it is assessing the extent of loss/damage and the steps to be taken to restore normalcy.

“Our immediate assessment reveals that manufacturing activity at the said unit will be affected due to the incident. However, the exact impact will be known after the assessment is over,” the statement further added. Shares of JB Chemicals, which touched a new year-low at ₹239.95 on the NSE, closed at ₹248.10, down 1.82 per cent.
