Metal scrips were on a roll in the afternoon session on Thursday. At 3.25 pm Jindal Steel was the top gainer on the NSE with gains of 26.97 per cent. It was trading at Rs 197.25 as against its overnight close at Rs 155.35.
Sesa Sterlite gained 6.63 per cent to quote at Rs 218.80. The share had ended yesterday’s session at Rs 205.20.
Hindalco was up 2.80 per cent at Rs 155.90 as against Rs 151.65 previously.
Larsen & Toubro built up gains of 2.59 per cent to trade at Rs 1,706.50. The scrip closed Wednesday’s session at Rs 1,663.35.
Tata Power charged up 2.38 per cent at Rs 88.30 as against Rs 86.25 at close yesterday.
The benchmark indices the Sensex and the Nifty recovered in late trading. The Sensex gained over 140 points to settle above the 29,460-mark, while the Nifty gained nearly 30 points to hover above the 8,890 level.
