While banking bellwether SBI managed to bounce back sharply from the day’s lows, capital goods major L&T and auto giant Bajaj Auto continued to bleed on the NSE among the Nifty stocks today.
SBI, which slumped to a low of Rs 1,820, recovered to close strongly at Rs 1,875.50, a gain of Rs 7.60.
Dr. Reddy’s was the biggest gainer in terms of value, up by Rs 16.90 to end the day at Rs 1,572. In fact, the scrip had hit a high of Rs 1,600 before easing.
Bajaj Auto shed Rs 59.10 to close at Rs 1,669 and L&T lost Rs 34.30 to end at Rs 1,226. ACC, which lost Rs 38.70 to close at Rs 1,164, Reliance which was down by Rs 25.45 at Rs 753.40, M&M that lost Rs 27.75 at Rs 702.15 and Siemens which closed at Rs 680.15, a loss of Rs 29.65, were the other major losers.
Ranbaxy, which hit a 52-week low of Rs 405.55 during the day, was able to pull back to Rs 416.20 at the close but was still down by Rs 2.25.
