Larsen & Toubro traded firm but came off its morning highs ahead of the close on the BSE on Thursday. At 2.55 p.m. it was trading at Rs 1,032.35, up 2.75 per cent on its previous close of Rs 1,004.75. The company yesterday reported a 22 per cent rise in net profit for the December quarter.
Axis Bank made rapid gains to trade at Rs 1,213.65 in late session. This represented a 2.26 per cent gain on its overnight close of Rs 1,186.85.
GAIL (India) extended its morning gains to quote at Rs 350.60, up 2.16 per cent on yesterday's close of Rs 343.20.
HDFC, which reported a 12 per cent rise in net profit for the quarter ended December on Wednesday, was trading at Rs 857, a gain of 1.75 per cent on Wednesday's close of Rs 842.25.
Sun Pharma held firm to quote at Rs 607.80. This represented a gain of 1.73 per cent on yesterday’s close of Rs 597.45.
