Larsen & Toubro retreated from its morning highs by close on Thursday on the NSE. The company reported a 22 per cent rise in net profit for the December quarter yesterday.
At 3.10 p.m., it was quoting at Rs 1,033.80 as against Rs 1,004.80 at close on Wednesday. This represented a gain of 2.89 per cent.
Jindal Steel held steady to trade at Rs 267.50, a gain of 2.26 per cent on yesterday's close of Rs 261.60.
GAIL (India) made further ground to hold gains of 2.19 per cent at Rs 350.70 as against Rs 343.20 at close yesterday.
Axis Bank extended its recent firm trend to trade at Rs 1,214.65, a gain of 2.17 per cent on its earlier close of Rs 1,188.85.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries held firm but edged lower to trade at Rs 609.20, up 1.97 per cent on its previous close of Rs 597.45.
