Logistics stocks jump on hopes of GST Bill passage

Reuters Updated - December 07, 2021 at 02:28 AM.

Logistics stocks jumped today as the government may convene special session for key tax Bill.

Gati gained 6.3 per cent, Gateway Distriparks was up 1.5 per cent, Snowman Logistics rose 4.6 per cent and VRL Logistics advanced 1.5 per cent.

The Centre had said on Tuesday it was open to convening another leg of the monsoon session of Parliament to pass the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said the government was holding parleys with the Opposition for an extended monsoon session and would decide on the matter after the talks.

Lower tax rate and fast movement of goods and inventories will help logistics providers, say analysts.
