M&M emerged the top gainer on the BSE near the close of trading on Tuesday. At 2.59 pm the share was trading at Rs 1,194.5 against Rs 1,184.40 at close on Monday. This represented a gain of 0.85 per cent.
The Sensex tanked over 500 points today as sentiment turned cautious ahead of the expiry of monthly derivatives contracts later this week.
IT shares Infosys and Wipro, the top gainers in the morning session, shed part of their gains to trade lower from their morning levels. Infosys was trading at Rs 1,111.5, up 0.62 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,104.65.
Wipro held on to gains of 0.5 per cent at Rs 595.25 against Rs 592.30 at close overnight.
