Monsanto India shares jumped 18 per cent in morning trade and was headed towards its biggest daily gain since September 2014.
According to news reports, the government is persuading local groups to end opposition to GM crops.
Even if the groups opposing GM crops agree, it would take at least 2 years for any such launch, according to analysts.
