Sesa Sterlite surged 3.54 per cent to emerge the top gainer on the NSE by close on Wednesday. The share maintained its firm undertone to trade at Rs 200.45 as against Rs 193.60 at close yesterday.
NMDC also held firm, though it trimmed its morning gains by close. It was trading at Rs 137.60, up 2.38 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 134.40.
ONGC made rapid strides in the latter half of the day to hold gains of 2.21 per cent by close. It was trading at Rs 342.95 as against Rs 335.55 at close yesterday.
Hindalco Industries was among the metal stocks on a firm uptrend. It was trading at Rs 147.50, up 1.90 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 144.75.
State Bank of India was trading at Rs 300.90. This represented a gain of 1.79 per cent on Tuesday’s close at Rs 295.60.
The market recovered some of its losses by close. The Sensex was down 55 points in late trading, while the Nifty was down 36 points.
