Boosted by the performance of Reliance, the Oil and Gas index became the biggest gainer among sectoral indices on the BSE today with the index closing with a gain of 80.38 points at 7,688.49.
Other than Reliance, the only major gainer was BPCL which was up Rs 14.45 at Rs 475.25.
Reliance did a star turn, gaining Rs 17.65 to close at Rs 716.90. Others to end in the green but barely were Essar Oil (Rs 57 with a gain of Rs 1.55), GAIL India (+ Rs 1.60 at Rs 382.70), HPCL (+ Rs 1.20 at Rs 241.55) and IOC with a gain of Rs 2.85 at Rs 255.75.
Oil India ceded much ground, shedding Rs 13.20 to close at Rs 1,114.75 and ONGC shed Rs 6.50 to end the day at Rs 255.80.
