Shares of oil marketing companies and airlines fell today as crude oil prices shot up nearly 6 per cent.

Indian Oil Corporation was down 0.4 per cent, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd fell 0.9 per cent and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation was down 1.7 per cent.

Jet Airways shares fell 2.1 per cent, while SpiceJet was down 1.4 per cent.

According to traders, these shares fell tracking a surge in global crude oil prices.

Brent crude oil prices shot up nearly 6 per cent on Thursday after Saudi Arabia and its Gulf Arab allies began a military operation in Yemen.
