Reflecting its strength on the BSE, Hindustan Unilever was the top gainer on the NSE as well in the morning session on Friday. At 11.24 am it was trading at Rs 846.75, up 3.64 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 817.05.
Pharma shares Cipla and Dr Reddy’s Labs were also broadly firm, holding gains of over 2 per cent. Cipla was trading at Rs 635.75, up 2.84 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 618.20.
Dr Reddy’s gained 2.24 per cent to trade at Rs 3,134.95. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 3,066.30.
Tech Mahindra and Tata Motors were the two auto shares in the lead pack. Tech Mahindra was trading at Rs 2,622, up 2.16 per cent on its Thursday close at Rs 2,566.65.
Tata Motors rode up 2.13 per cent to trade at Rs 522.90. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 512.
Meanwhile the Sensex and the Nifty were trading higher on value-buying in blue-chips. The Sensex was approaching the 27,400-mark with gains of over 100 points, while the Nifty was within sight of the 8,300-level with gains of over 30 points.
