Indian markets ended the session with a gain of over 0.3 per cent on firm European cues.
The BSE Sensex was up 60.71 points (0.32 per cent) at 18,823.58 and the NSE Nifty was up 24.95 points (0.44 per cent) at 5,729.15.
Among BSE sectoral indices, realty, power, healthcare and banking sector stocks were up. On the other hand, auto, capital goods, tech and IT sector stocks were down.
Top five Sensex gainers were Cipla, SBI, Jindal Steel, HDFC and Wipro, while the top five losers were Maruti, Hindalco, Coal India, Hero MotoCorp and RIL.
European stocks were up as Americans prepared to go to the polls to decide their President. Asian shares fluctuated between gains and losses.
