Shares of Reliance Capital today surged more than 7 per cent after it posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 329.32 crore in the fourth quarter of 2011-12.
Boosted by the smart results, shares of the Anil Ambani Group company opened the day on a positive note and further gained 7 per cent to Rs 311.35 on the BSE.
On the National Stock Exchange, the stock climbed 7.11 per cent to Rs 311.50.
In terms of volume, 4.76 lakh shares were traded on the BSE, while more than 18 lakh shares changed hands on the NSE.
The company had announced on Saturday that it has registered a net loss of Rs 6.46 crore in the fourth quarter of 2010-11.
Rally in the stock was in line with the broader market, where the BSE 30-share Sensex was trading 45.01 points higher at 16,197.76.
