Reliance Industries made rapid strides to emerge the top gainer on the BSE near the close on Wednesday. At 3.20 pm the share was trading at Rs 908. This represented a gain of 2.17 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 888.75.
HDFC also built up gains of 2.04 per cent to trade at Rs 1,342.45. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 1,315.65.
Wipro gained 1.59 per cent to quote at Rs 607.35 as against Rs 597.85 at close on Tuesday.
ONGC flared up 1.36 per cent at Rs 354.40 as against Rs 349.65 at close yesterday.
TCS was firm but off its morning levels in late session. It was trading at Rs 2,534.50 as against Rs 2.502.80 at close on Tuesday.
The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty came off their morning highs to trade flat near the close. While the Sensex was trading above the 29,500 level in late session, the Nifty was hovering above the 8,900 level.
