Reliance Industries raced into the lead on the BSE on Tuesday afternoon. At 2.45 pm it was trading at Rs 903.55, up 4.61 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 863.70.
CLSA earlier said the company could announce record profits in the fourth quarter.
IT player TCS held firm to build on its morning gains in late trading. It was trading at Rs 2,754.65 as against Rs 2,670.15 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 3.16 per cent.
Cipla made rapid strides to notch up gains of 2.52 per cent at Rs 733.30. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 715.30.
Dr Reddy’s was trading steady at Rs 3,449 as against Rs 3,384 at close yesterday, representing a gain of 1.92 per cent.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries was firm but off its morning levels at Rs 940.65. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 923.85. This was a gain of 1.82 per cent.
The Sensex and the Nifty were trading in positive territory near the close. The Nifty gained 50 points to breach the 9,000-level for the first time. The Sensex gained over 160 points to hover above the 29,600 level. The markets rose after CLSA said Reliance Industries could post record profits in Q4.
