Banking stocks came under pressure with just one bank stock in the Bank Nifty ending in the green at the close on the NSE today.
Canara Bank and IDBI Bank came near to breaching their 52-week lows but managed to ward it off. SBI was the biggest loser in terms of value shedding Rs 26.10 to close at Rs 1,645. Bank of India was the next biggest loser, down by Rs 11.70 at Rs 292.
Canara Bank touched a low of Rs 361 (its 52-week low is Rs 355.30) before recovering to Rs 362.40 at the close. IDBI Bank dipped to Rs 81.60 (52-week low Rs 80.60) but pulled back to Rs 82.20 at close.
The only Bank Nifty counter to post gains was Axis Bank, which closed at Rs 882.10, a gain of Rs 8.45.
