Bank stocks were the toast of the markets today, forgetting the battering they received yesterday and making hefty gains.
Bank Nifty was up 345 points that was almost double of the gain made by CNX IT (138 points) on the NSE on Tuesday.
Bank of India topped the charts as the biggest Bank Nifty gainer in terms of percentage, gaining 8.12 per cent or Rs 21.70 to close at Rs 288.80. But in terms of value, it was SBI that was the star performer gaining Rs 78.60 to end the day at Rs 1,706.25.
The other bank counters to make significant gains were IndusInd Bank (Rs 16.55 at Rs 243), Kotak Mahindra Bank (Rs 26.50 at Rs 448.25), AXIS Bank (Rs 45.10 at Rs 839.90), BoB (Rs 33.50 at Rs 701.70), PNB (Rs 33.70 at Rs 799.95) and ICICI Bank (Rs 26.45 at Rs 723).
