The Nifty and the Sensex closed flat though marginally in the green.
The Nifty closed at 6,016 up seven points, while the Sensex closed at 19,784, up 19 points.
Marketmen are expecting India Inc to record double-digit earnings growth in the third quarter of FY13.
“We expect the net income of companies in the BSE-30 index to grow by 11 per cent year-on-year in 3QFY13,” said a Kotak Institutional Equities report on third quarter earnings expectations.
Volatility shed 0.74 per cent and the volatility index India Vix closed at 13.37.
Cairn, BPCL, BHEL, GAIL and IDFC were the top five Nifty gainers, while Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Sesa Goa, Hindalco and Tata Motors were the top losers.
