The Nifty and the Sensex closed flat on profit booking said market-men. The Nifty closed at 5,942 down three points while Sensex closed at 19,646 down 37 points. All the broader and sectoral indices also closed flat.
“Nifty has entered in the over-bought zone and is likely to trade sideways in the coming days. Participants may be awaiting for IIP data expected tomorrow,” said Alex Mathews, Head Research, Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services.
Volatility was up seven per cent and the volatility index India Vix, closed at 14.25.
Siemens, DLF, Tata Power, Asian Paints and HDFC were the top five Nifty gainers while Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Auto, IDFC, Wipro and TCS were the top losers.
