The BSE Sensex ended down 9.68 points at 18,329.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty ended down flat at 5,571.55.
The Sensex had risen over 100 points in opening trade today.
All the BSE sectoral indices except Auto, Consumer Durables and Health Care ended in the red. The top losers during the session were Realty (-3.02%), Oil & Gas (0.88%) and Metal (0.73%).
Volume toppers during the session were SBI, M&M, Tata Steel, RIL and L&T.
M&M (3.25%), HDFC (2.02%) and Tata Power (1.82%) were the top Sensex gainers while Hindalco (-1.86%), Infosys (-1.46%), and SBI (-1.39%) were the top losers.
European markets were mixed. Asian markets closed down on Tuesday.
