Indian markets ended up on Friday, rising as much as 0.9 per cent. The BSE Sensex was up 180 points (0.9 per cent) and closed at 20,103. The NSE Nifty closed at 6074, up 55 points (0.9 per cent).
“FIIs continue to be optimistic with steady inflows coming from them. This month has seen more than Rs 15,000 crores of net buying till now, as per provisional data. Constant liquidity in the market is holding the indices in upward zone,” said Rakesh Goyal, Senior Vice President, Bonanza Portfolio
On the BSE, the realty index gained the most at 4.4 per cent, followed by the auto index at 2.2 per cent and consumer durables at 1.7 per cent. The BSE Oil&Gas sector index had risen the least at 0.3 per cent.
Among the Sensex stocks, the top five gainers were Maruti, Bajaj Auto, Jindal Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors. The top five laggards were Tata Power, Coal India, NTPC, Hero MotoCorp and Bharti Airtel.
