Metal stocks maintained their firm trend on the markets on Wednesday. At 11.20 am Sesa Sterlite led the pack on the BSE, quoting at Rs 215.60. This represented a gain of 2.40 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 210.55.
Tata Steel gained 2.11 per cent to trade at Rs 389. The stock had closed yesterday’s session at Rs 380.95.
Sun Pharma rose 2.08 per cent to trade at Rs 960.30 as against Rs 940.70 at close on Tuesday.
ONGC flared up 1.88 per cent to trade at Rs 366. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 359.25.
Hindalco Industries spiked up 1.61 per cent at Rs 148.70 as against Rs 146.35 at close yesterday.
In the broader market, the Sensex and the Nifty came off their early highs on selling pressure. Both the benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, were trading marginally in the red ahead of the mid-session, with the Sensex retreating below the 29,000 level and the Nifty below the 8,800-mark.
