Sun Pharma industries held on to its firm undertone in late trading on the BSE on Thursday. At 2.40 pm it was trading at Rs 919 as against 886.05 at the finish on Wednesday. This was a gain of 3.72 per cent.
Axis Bank traded up 3.08 per cent to quote at Rs 563.75 as against Rs 546.90 at close yesterday.
Tata Motors, which launched another hatchback, the Bolt, today, rode up 2.35 per cent to quote at Rs 564.35. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 551.40.
ONGC flared up 1.51 per cent to trade at Rs 350.65 as against Rs 345.45 at close overnight.
Cipla perked up 1.34 per cent to trade at Rs 651.60 as against Rs 643 at close on Wednesday.
The Sensex and the Nifty both recorded new highs today. However, the Sensex, which breached the 29,000 level earlier in the day, retreated below that level on profit-booking. The Nifty also came off its early highs but was comfortably above the 8,700-level near the close.
