Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd slipped as much as 1.9 per cent to Rs 538.30 as the drugmaker's unit had on Friday issued a voluntary recall of two batches of Riomet, an oral diabetes drug, due to microbial contamination.
However, the shares wiped off their initial losses and ended up by 0.31 per cent at Rs 550.25.
The drug is manufactured by a contract manufacturer. The unit said it has not received reports of adverse events related to the recall.
Sun Pharma posted its biggest intraday percentage loss since November 15. The stock was among the top percentage losers on the broader Nifty 50 index.
Up to Friday's close, the stock plunged 12.8 per cent this year.
