Tata Power charges up 4.6%, auto stocks gain momentum

The top gainers on the NSE were the same as the top gainers on the BSE near the close on Monday.

Tata Power Company maintained its firm undertone to extend its morning gains by close. At 3.30 p.m. it was the top gainer on the bourse, trading at Rs 77.25, up 4.60 per cent on its earlier close of Rs 73.85.

M&M and Hero MotoCorp rode up following the Interim Budget announcement of an excise duty cut on cars and two-wheelers. The former stock was trading at Rs 934, up 3.27 per cent on last week's close of Rs 904.40. This represented a gain of 3.27 per cent.

Hero MotoCorp was trading at Rs 1,975, up 1.95 per cent on its previous close of Rs 1,937.30.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories was trading at Rs 2,647, up 2.59 per cent on last week’s close of Rs 2,580.05.

ICICI Bank was at Rs 1,012, a gain of 2.38 per cent on its previous close of Rs 988.45.
