Despite sectoral headwinds, IT companies TCS and HCL Technologies have been the biggest wealth creators between 2012 and 2017, according to Raamdeo Agrawal, author of Motilal Oswal’s 22nd annual wealth creation study. In terms of sectors, financial services was the top wealth creator, pipping consumer sector to the post this time.
TCS has retained the top position for the fourth consecutive period. Reliance Industries made it to the top ten companies’ list this time, taking the third position thanks to the success of RJio.
What of the fastest and/or consistent wealth creators?
While Ajanta Pharma has been the fastest wealth creator with five-year share price CAGR of 96 per cent, Asian Paints has been the most consistent appearing 10 times in the study, clocking a price CAGR of 30 per cent.
HDFC Bank, ITC and Kotak Mahindra Bank also figure among the top ones.
