Taiwan stocks rose on Thursday following rebound in overseas markets.
As of 0128 GMT, the main TAIEX index was up 124.49 points at 9,209.58, after closing up 0.35 per cent on Wednesday.
Gains were broad-based as investors hunted for bargains after Tuesday’s rout which saw the main index drop 2.43 per cent on the day, its worst session performance in nearly three months.
The electronics sub-index was up 1.6 per cent, the financial sub-index was up 1.1 per cent, while the transport index was also up 1.5 per cent.
Among actively traded shares, display maker AU Optronics rose 5 per cent, while airliner China Airlines was 3.2 per cent higher. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.005 to stand at T$31.996 to the US dollar.
