Top 6 cos add over Rs 16,000 cr in market valuation, TCS gains Rs 5,980 cr

The combined market valuation of six of the top-10 firms rose by Rs 16,445.27 crore last week, with TCS leading the chart with maximum gains.

While TCS, HDFC Bank, CIL, Sun Pharma, HUL and ONGC saw a gain in their market capitalisation (m-cap) for the week ended Friday, RIL, ITC, Infosys and HDFC suffered losses.

The m-cap of TCS surged by Rs 5,980.25 crore to Rs 5,21,946.66 crore, emerging as the biggest gainer among the top-10 firms.

ONGC’s valuation jumped Rs 5,004.96 crore to Rs 1,93,182.97 crore and that of Sun Pharma by Rs 3,032.43 crore to Rs 2,02,727.88 crore.

The m-cap of HDFC Bank advanced by Rs 1,045.56 crore to Rs 3,17,052.47 crore and that of CIL rose by Rs 884.29 crore to Rs 2,08,061.04 crore.

HUL added Rs 497.78 crore to Rs 1,99,933.02 crore in its valuation.

On the other hand, HDFC’s valuation plunged Rs 5,363.14 crore to Rs 2,12,065.33 crore.

Infosys lost Rs 1,504.5 crore to Rs 2,45,175.87 crore and that of ITC fell by Rs 1,208 crore to Rs 3,03,750.88 crore.

The m-cap of RIL declined by Rs 283.86 crore to Rs 3,29,013.53 crore.

In the ranking of top-10 firms, TCS retained its numero-uno position followed by RIL, HDFC Bank, ITC, Infosys, HDFC, CIL, Sun Pharma, HUL and ONGC. In the past week, the Sensex and the Nifty rose 0.09 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively.
