The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced the results of its common written exam for specialist officers in public sector banks.
16,268 candidates have qualified out of about 3 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam that was conducted in March.
The specialist streams for which the exams were conducted include law, IT, agriculture, marketing, rajbhasha , etc.
The pass percentage of successful candidates at a little over 5 per cent of total candidates compares relatively poorly with the other two exams conducted by IBPS. The pass percentage in the probationary officers exam was 10 per cent while for clerical cadre, the pass percentage was 17 per cent. It must be mentioned that the number of specialist positions available in public sector banks is also relatively lower. Successful candidates in this exam may have to compete for about 4,000 odd specialist vacancies. Mr M.Balachandran, Director, IBPS, said that they had tightened the qualification criteria keeping in view the requirements of banks.
