The rupee fell by 2 paise to a one-week low of Rs 45.74 against the US dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today, weighed down by the greenback’s gains against other Asian currencies.
Dealers said the rupee lost ground due to the dollar’s gains against other Asian currencies. However, a higher opening in the domestic stock market capped the losses.
The domestic unit had depreciated by 24 paise to close at Rs 45.72/73 against the US currency in the previous session on sustained dollar demand from importers and some banks and sluggish equities.
