Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVG Bank), a regional rural bank, and Deshpande Foundation, Hubli, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up support mechanism for driving and strengthening the farm- and non-farm-based entrepreneurs.
The target groups are farm hands; self-help groups and micro entrepreneurs. Ashok Reddy Nukala, Chairman, KVG Bank, and Naveen Jha, Chief Executive Officer, Deshpande Foundation, signed the MoU.
Nukala said the bank and the Deshpande Foundation would work for the common goal of improving the income levels of farmers in rural areas.
“It will also work towards providing training and easy finance to prospective micro and macro entrepreneurs,” he added.
KVG Bank will also work towards capacity building and finance the SHGs, micro and macro entrepreneurs, Navodyami entrepreneurs identified and trained by the Deshpande Foundation.
“The bank will actively participate in farm mela, micro entrepreneurs fairs and job fairs,” said Nukala.
Skill developments for the rural youth, tree plantation, solar energy projects and greenhouse farming are the other aspects included in the agreement, Jha said.
