Financial services company Religare Enterprises has appointed former Finance Secretary Arun R. Ramanathan as an independent non-executive director on its board. This move takes place at a time when the group plans to enter into the banking business.

Ramanathan, a retired IAS officer, currently serves as an independent director on the boards of several leading corporations and is a member of the India Advisory Council of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Ltd. He has also held board-level positions in various banks and financial services organisations.
