Bangalore-based Syndicate Bank has set up two loan processing centres for the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment on a pilot basis, according to a source in the bank. These SME loan processing centres will be located at Bangalore and New Delhi.
“On a pilot basis, we will set up SME loan processing units at two centres, and take it forward to other locations based on the response,” he said. Syndicate Bank has 11 centralised processing centres (CPCs) for advances across the country, and seven loan processing units for housing loans.
The bank's home loan portfolio stands at about Rs 10,000 crore with over 1.6 lakh borrowers, and it expects the home loan segment to grow 25 per cent every year. “Currently, we have home loan processing units at all lead districts, and we are also exploring possibilities of extending them to other centres,” said the source.
Apart from this, the bank has 29 loan processing units for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) segment, and this portfolio stands at around Rs 13,000 crore. “The MSME segment currently forms about 15 per cent of our total loan portfolio,” he added. As on June 30, 2011, the bank's global advances stood at about Rs 1.1 lakh crore.
