The two-day conference -- Gyan Sangam -- to improve the state of the Indian banking system got underway in Pune.
Consultations between Finance Ministry officials, top bankers of public sector banks and other officials of the insurance, MSME and pension sectors will include presentations and group discussions.
Topics to be discussed include universal financial inclusion, leveraging technology to improve banking, people management, improving asset quality and rethinking on the priority sector lending.
Bankers will also discuss the restructuring of PSBs, but it will not be limited to merger of PSBs. The two-day conference will end with a presentation to the Prime Minister, who will be present for the valedictory session on Saturday.
