Canara Bank rolls out apps, digital library

Canara Bank celebrated its Founder’s Day on November 19 by rolling out several initiatives and benefits for its staff.

The bank, which was founded on July 1, 1906, by late Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, at Mangaluru, also honoured sportsmen on the occasion.

The bank’s MD and CEO, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, PV Bharathi, and Director, MN Rao, were present on the occasion.

The initiatives launched include a digital library, a Canarites app, a field recovery mobile app, a retail loan (vehicle) – tracking system, and a regulatory guidance tracking system.

A press statement from the bank said that it has a clientèle base of over eight crore, with 6,165 branches and over 10,300 ATMs.

As of September, the bank’s business stood at ₹8.55 lakh crore, comprising ₹4.96 lakh crore deposits and ₹3.58 lakh crore advances.

The bank posted an operating profit of ₹2,480 crore and net profit of ₹260 crore in the second quarter ended September.
