The All India Cooperative Bank Employees Federation (AICBEF) has decided to join the AIBEA and AIBOC in the February 7 strike. The AICBEF General Secretary P Balakrishnan said the decision is to show the Federation’s allegiance to the call for strike against the demonetisation move.
“The Centre has not taken enough steps to address the issue properly.” Rebuffing the exercise as a “political stunt”, Balakrishnan deplored the Centre’s stance in not taking the District Central Cooperative Banks, Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks and Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks into confidence and allowing exchange of the now withdrawn ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes during the demonetisation drive.
