Corp Bank turns to northern, western regions for expansion

Corporation Bank is focusing on northern and western India for expansion.

Mr Ajai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, said this during his visit to Pune zonal office.

Quoting Mr Kumar, a bank release has said that the bank has opened 12 new zonal offices. This was aimed at expanding branch network rapidly in northern and western parts of the country. The focus states for this are: Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.

He said the bank wants to open SME loan centres across the country. First such centre shall be opened in Pune soon.

Pune zone with 53 branches and 45 ATMs contributed a business of Rs 6,900 crore as on March 31.

Mr Kumar addressed a special customers' meet on the occasion. Mr K. Ramamurthy, General Manager of the bank, who accompanied Mr Kumar, said the bank is giving focus to commercial vehicle loans and gold loans.

He said the RBI and the Government have appreciated the bank's initiatives in financial inclusion.
